FlopTurnRiver.com Launches its 5th Season of the FTR Gauntlet Online Poker League
(PRWeb) February 20, 2007 -- FlopTurnRiver.com, one of the fastest growing online poker communities with over 11,000 registered members and over 450,000 poker forum articles, begins Season 5 of the FTR Gauntlet Online Poker League.
FlopTurnRiver.com (FTR) has just started Season 5 of the FTR Gauntlet, FlopTurnRiver's own private online poker league. The Gauntlet started in 2004 as a vehicle to allow poker players of all experience levels to play alongside each other in a friendly competition among the FTR community. The Gauntlet itself is free to join for all players and consists of a series of low buy-in tournaments where players accumulate points based on their tournament finishes.
The Gauntlet is a great opportunity for novice tournament players to match wits against expert players for a nominal price. The low buy-in tournaments make the Gauntlet accessible to everyone, but it's really the bragging rights that attract the tournament experts.
How does it work?
A season consists of a series of 24 multi-table tournaments, or "games." Each player is permitted to play a maximum of 12 games during the course of the season, and may choose which games to enter. The top finishers of each individual game will collect and keep the tournament cash prizes as in any tournament. In addition, FlopTurnRiver will add cash, prizes, bounties and other perks throughout the season.
FTR will keep a leaderboard based on a point system. The leaderboard will be updated following each game with the latest standings. At the end of the season, additional prizes will be awarded to the top three league finishers. But only first place takes home the coveted FTR Gauntlet Trophy.
What does it cost?
It is free to join the league and the buy-in to each tournament is only $5.50. The members are not really playing for each other's bankroll, moreso for bragging rights and the Gauntlet trophy. Again, this allows the beginners to come right in and take on the pros. FlopTurnRiver believes you will not find a more challenging game or better learning experience at this price.
How do you join?
First of all, you must be a member of the FTR Poker Forum (http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2). If you have a forum account, all you need to do is register to play. League registration is required only once to play in all seasons. However, if your poker room handle has changed, you must re-register with your new ID.
You can visit the FTR Gauntlet section to register, view the leaderboard, read the rules, and view the schedule at http://www.flopturnriver.com/poker-league . To keep up with the latest news and discussion topics, visit the FTR Gauntlet Forum at http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/forum/texas-holdem-31.html.
With 24 total events, there is plenty of time to join in on the fun.

Online Poker Sit-n-Go?s
Sit-N-Go?s are a great way to make a stable income playing poker online, but many people do not understand the concept of bankroll management. One of the biggest problems many players face when playing Sit-N-Go?s is they will play tournaments to high for their bankroll. This can cause you to lose all your money quickly and go on tilt. A general rule of thumb is to have a bankroll of roughly 20-30 times the Sit-N-Go buy in amount. I have made a simple chart below which you can print off and use over and over again. It has helped me greatly.
